1. Weight changes

Can hormones affect your weight? Weight changes that occur for no apparent reason can be a signal of a hormonal imbalance. Therefore, weight gain may indicate an excess of cortisol or testosterone. And sudden weight loss may mean a thyroid gland problem. 

Besides, changes in estrogen levels influence weight, especially around menopause. Many women report that they notice that they are gaining weight or that it is tougher for them to lose weight.

2. Increased appetite

Can hormone imbalance make you hungry? If you want to eat all the time, even after you just had a meal, you may want to check the balance of your thyroid hormones. With hyperthyroidism, when thyroid hormones are produced in high amounts, your body burns calories faster, and appetite increases. 

What hormone makes you hungry all the time? Ghrelin is usually termed a “hunger hormone” it spurs appetite, increases food intake, plays vital roles in glucose processes, and supports fat storage. 

Constant hunger can occur due to elevated levels of the stress hormone cortisol because the body tends to store more energy in a stressful situation.

Changes in your progesterone or estrogen level can cause mental clarity, an inability to focus and make it more difficult for you to remember things. Also, the thyroid gland condition can cause memory problems, concentration, and the ability to understand information. So it is hard for you to remember or cope with daily tasks you may want to see a doctor.

4. Hair loss

Hormones are the various underlying cause of hair loss for both women and men. Elevated testosterone levels in women lead to male pattern hair loss. Most of the time, a change in testosterone hormone indicates Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). This disease impairs fertility and makes it harder to get pregnant. And can also increase the prospect of developing conditions such as obesity, diabetes, or cancer.

Besides, everyone got used to this symptom in pregnant women or women going through menopause. 6. Constant fatigue

Lots of things can trigger constant fatigue. But for some people, low thyroid hormone levels (hypothyroidism) can cause fatigue, one of the most prevalent manifestations of a hormone imbalance. If you always get tired quickly and can not rest, see a doctor. Constant fatigue is a severe symptom; do not ignore it.  

7. Sleep Problems

Without a sufficient amount of night’s rest, cortisol levels may rise, and high cortisol causes a sleepless vicious cycle. Also, insomnia can produce an elevated thyroid hormone.
